Speech and Hearing

Since 1954, Delta Zeta has supported the cause of speech and hearing loss as one of our national philanthropies.

Today, Delta Zeta has national partnerships with Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University.

Delta Zetas support the Starkey Hearing Foundation mission to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing matters through education and research while providing the gift of hearing to those in need around the world. We support this cause through service and fundraising. DZs travel on Starkey Hearing Mission events throughout the world, and they provide bears with hearing aid attachments from Build-A-Bear so that children with new hearing aids can have a ‘furry friend just like them.’ In addition, Delta Zeta Sorority has  committed to raise $5 million over the next five years through local fundraising efforts and through our national Hike for Hearing.

DZ at UCF hosts an annual philanthropic event every year raising thousands of dollars for The Starkey Hearing Foundation. This year, Delta Zeta at UCF will be hosting it's own Hike for Hearing on September 26th, 2015. Click here for more information.

Delta Zeta shares a partnership with Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., the world’s only university with undergraduate programs accessible to hearing-impaired students. Delta Zeta endowed the Delta Zeta Scholarship Fund and the Fine Arts Endowment Fund. In 1995, the Delta Zeta Dance Studio was built and dedicated.

Donations to the Delta Zeta Foundation that are designated for Gallaudet University are used to fund Gallaudet Scholarships or other funding needs for the University, including endowment support for the library and performing arts. Gallaudet University manages the funds donated, selects the scholarship recipients from the University, and administers the disbursement of scholarship funds.
