Delta Zeta National Initiatives
Delta Zeta is proud to sponsor these national programs and events to develop multifaceted, community leaders who make positive changes in our communities.
Being More! Program
The Being More! Program is a four-year peer-led personal leadership development experience that seeks to prepare members for the challenges they will face throughout their time in college, as leaders of student organizations, and as they transition out of college and into their career. This program assists in preparing our members to best take advantage of opportunities with skills such as networking, interviewing and resolving conflict in the workplace.
Throughout their years in college, members participate in 60 to 90 minute workshops that will assist in their growth across six competencies: Communicates Effectively, Personal Life Balances, Values & Maintains Relationships, Confidence, Critical Thinking, and Resolves Conflict. Each academic class participates in a curriculum designed specifically for them, which includes group discussions, reflection, quizzes, interviews, games, and other activities. Through this program, Delta Zeta believes each member will be equipt with the right tools to accomplish their dreams.
Pink Goes Green
Delta Zeta Sorority members have always been citizens who are concerned for and care about their communities and the people in those communities. With worldwide concern for the state of the environment, an increasing percentage of individuals feel the need to help, but many do not know how or what they can do. Delta Zeta members are working at the grassroots level to improve the environment, educate the public on what they can do and help them do it, and empower those they impact with the knowledge that just one person can make a difference to protect the environment and enrich our planet. I Have A Choice Week
Delta Zeta's i Have a Choice awareness campaign is a premier, week-long alcohol prevention and awareness experience designed to help students understand how to make healthy choices around alcohol consumption and social event planning. This annual event is typically held each October in partnership with The Coalition of Higher Education Associations for Substance Abuse Prevention (CoHEASAP) during the annual National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW).
Inspiring students to examine lifestyle choices and make informed decisions regarding alcohol, Delta Zeta women from across the U. S. and Canada lead discussions on topics such as the effects of alcohol on one's body, the warning signs of alcohol abuse, social respect and consent around alcohol consumption, preventative social event planning processes. Delta Zeta is honored to become the leader in the education of college students about alcohol consumption.
Learn 2 Listen Week
According to the National Insitute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, a reported 43 million Americans suffer from speech, voice, language, or hearing impairment, and an estimated 26 million Americans between the ages of 20 and 69 have permanent hearing loss from noise exposure. Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) has increased among teens and adults by more than 30% in the past 15 years. NIHL is the most common form of hearing loss today – it is permanent and painless, but completely preventable with smart listening habits.
Delta Zeta's Learn 2 Listen Week is a time to raise public awareness and understanding of the various forms of communication impairments to include those of hearing, speech, language and voice. Learn 2 Listen Week is typically held every spring in all collegiate and alumnae chapters.
